The brief
Our client spends a lot of time travelling, so she wanted a warm, cosy and comfortable live–work space to use as her London base. When she is not in the UK, the boat needed to function equally well as a short-let holiday home. The design brief was to provide a spacious saloon, a fully functioning kitchen, and two bedrooms with generous built-in storage.
The design
Saloon / Galley
A cleverly designed U-shaped kitchen incorporates an integrated washing machine, fridge, freezer and even an air fryer. This efficient layout allows plenty of space in the saloon for a large L-shaped sofa facing a solid-fuel feature Morso stove. The breakfast bar also provides comfortable seating for up to four people.
Bedrooms
The middle bedroom features a full run of wardrobes, providing ample storage for the client, as well as a lovely office area for working from home. Overnight guests can be accommodated on the double daybed, which easily folds out when required.
The master bedroom also benefits from a full run of wardrobes, along with additional storage on the bulkhead on either side of the open bow doors. These doors allow natural light to flood the space, making the room feel bright, airy and open.

Anna’s Thoughts
I loved working with this client. She had a clear vision for how she wanted the boat to look, and we spent time carefully selecting finishes for the flooring, wallpaper and kitchen units so everything tied together beautifully. The layout is unusual as it's a hybrid of lots of our designs, but it works incredibly well for the way she plans to use the space. With the letting market in mind, we added a Hive remote heating system, lockable cupboards, extra water tanks and durable finishes.
