Local Activities
Stomp the strawberry trail
The Strawberry Trail is a figure of eight walking path in the Hamble River Valley. The footpath is managed by Eastleigh Borough Council. The area was once an important strawberry growing region. Hamble and the Solent Water have a long history of boat-building and you will find marinas and boating activity along the trail. Starting from Botley the first loop heads north west to the edge of Eastleigh before returning via the Itchen Valley Country Park and Manor Farm Country Park. The second, smaller loop follows the River Hamble to Bursledon before making a circuit of the Royal Victoria Country Park beside Southampton Water and the pretty Hamble-le-Rice.
Bursledon Windmill & Brickworks and The Sea City Museum
The River Hamble and nearby port of Southampton are awash with maritime history; explore Bursledon Windmill (Hampshire’s only working windmill), steam enthusiasts can lose several hours in the Bursledon Brickworks Museum, or head to Southampton to find out more about the 1912 White Star liner Titanic and stories of people who have arrived in Southampton Port over the last 200,000 years.
Hamble River
Explore the peaceful upper reaches of the Hamble River, a great trip with friends, children and those who appreciate calm waters, nature, stunning views and on a warm day – a river dip! Enjoy a pint and a bite at the Horse & Jockey Pub, or picnic by the waterside, then rest your arms and shoot back down on the ebb tide.
Convenience & Seclusion
The boatyard provides a designated parking place with an adjacent lockable storage shed and has a unique, rural feel, giving residents a genuine feeling of escapism.
